In spite of school closures in the first part of the new year, we have shown we are all capable learners and have completed some fabulous work, with the support of of our parents and carers. Here are some of the learning experiences we have been taking part in:
Class 1 Topic Web Spring 1 2021
Please find attached a topic web showing some of the activities and learning experiences children in Class 1 will be taking part …
Oh no, George!
Our Class story for the past few weeks has been ‘Oh no, George!’ We think we had a visit one day by George the dog- we found paw prints all over our carpet! We have found out about all the things George has been up to in the story and we have made our own models of George to extend the story, thinking about what he might get up to next…..
Children in Need
Class 1 took part in a variety of activities for Children in Need. Our Nursery children enjoyed making and eating spotty biscuits whilst our Reception and Year 1 children took part in the live Joe Wicks session. It tired us out!
Remembrance Day activities
We found out about what it was like to be a soldier in World War 1. We pretended to enlist in the army and we worked hard in the Garden to make trenches and barricades. Finally, we re-enacted the football match played by the soldiers from opposing sides on Christmas Day 1914.
Being creative
We have enjoyed expressing our ideas through drawing, painting and modelling. Here are some examples of our creativity.
Marvellous Maths!
From Nursery through to Year 1, we have all enjoyed developing our understanding of mathematical concepts.
Early Reading and Writing
Look at all our wonderful photographs showing our enthusiasm for learning to read and write.
Learning our letter sounds
We have started our phonics lessons and we are learning all about the sounds letters make in words. The children are showing their learning in their play activities:
