The children in Class 3 took part in some cave painting as part of their topic this term. We collected natural resources from the school grounds to produce the paintings. Here are the results…
The Roman Empire
Class 3 have been learning about the Roman Empire, so a trip to the Great North Museum was the perfect opportunity to see Roman artefacts, armour and the Hadrian’s Wall replica. The museum also had Greek artefacts, which was a fantastic opportunity as it was the children’s previous topic. The children had a brilliant time!
OAA and Team Up
For the Autumn 2 half term, Class 4 are taking part in two activities that involve the Go Well organisation. These are:
- OAA (outdoor adventurous activities) – children will learn military style activities, for example how to carry a casualty on a stretcher, how to cook in the wild and how to camouflage in natural surroundings.
- Team Up – children will learn about the brain and how chemicals in our body can influence how we behave and how we feel.
Properties of Materials – Making soap
As part of our science unit this term, we made soap to investigate reversible reactions. We combined soap flake, glycerine and food colouring and then left it to set. We will discover the soap after half term.
Robotics Tournament
On 8th of January, 9 children from KS2 took part in a VEX IQ Robotics Tournament at Nissan in Sunderland. This was a culmination of an after school club from the last half term, where children built and controlled a robot for themselves. In the competition, they came 8th out of 19 teams. A fantastic achievement, well done!
