Each class takes part in weekly PE lessons, with a wide range of activities covered every year in every class. To support our hard-working staff, we employ specialist staff from Go-Well (Previously the Sedgefield Sport Partnership) to assist particular areas of the curriculum where we feel that staff could benefit from extra expertise. Each class has this opportunity each year.
As a school, we aim to take part in 30 minutes of fitness per day and this is scheduled into the timetable. This can take the form of a mile run, Fit for life program, Wheel of Fortune and activities designed by both teachers and children. Regular active brain breaks are also encouraged throughout the school day.
From KS2, children take part in swimming lessons once per week and data for their achievements is recorded below.
|Y6 standard||Percentage achieving the standard|
|Swimming confidently||85% (11/13)|
|Using a range of strokes||77% (10/13)|
|Able to perform a self-rescue||54% (7/13)|
